SPRING!!!!

It has not been a long cold winter. It has been a frustrating winter of cold with little or no snow. In any case, it looks to be over and, now, it is spring!!! We have been outside a lot. The children are loving it! Ty will walk over to the wagon whenever he can and plant himself in it for a walk to the park. I love that! Marie alternates between wanting to pull the wagon, bike or scoot to the park. She is such a big girl. No baby left, I am afraid. Here are some shots from the other day's ventures. We trecked down to the park (Marie did most of the work) and then had a blast! Enjoy!

Portrait of an Artist

Marie's Self Portrait

We have never seen her draw stick people before. Tonight, while we were making banana bread, she whipped this drawing out within a few seconds. Wonder what else has happened at school I have missed?

This is the 4 of us. Maris is the behemoth on the left, me and Jim are next (holding hands with massive Edward Scissorhand fingers) and the little penguin on the right is Ty, clearly.

Re-hashed

Yeah, I know these are re-runs from the video. But are you gonna argue with me? I was a single parent all weekend and you don't even comment anyways!?! Enjoy!

Reading Time

The dynamic duo have a few faves...the big chair, the fluffy blanket, and books. (Marie demonstrates a few others with her leotard and mention of her favorite snack)Here they enjoy them all...

Sick Days

Marie has been home "sick." She is right on the line between too sick for school and too healthy for home. A sporadic fever, hoarse voice and smoker cough has convinced us to keep her home for the past 2 days. That and the knowledge that her teacher missed several days last week with similar symptoms. So, she and Momma have had some time together at home, which has suited me just fine. Writing sub plans is never fun but we are standardized testing this week so I haven't had to do too much in that regard. Yesterday we both plopped on the couch and did our respective work. At one point, we both had a laptop in front of us (of course, I was chatting with friends online instead of working. Oops).

Marie also decided she wanted to make pretend, flavorful eggs, her words not mine. She went back and forth from the sink to the stove half a dozen times, getting water. Marie still rarely amuses herself at home so this was fun to see. To be fair, she is home in the afternoon after a day at school or a weekend; these aren't times to play on your own that much anyways. But, still, it was fun to watch.

We took time to write her egg recipe down: water, cinnamon, salt, parsley, celery salt, white pepper and black pepper. After mixing it together for a while, she went and go out tupperware, poured it in and put it in the fridge for me to eat later. There are currently 3 LARGE containers of this special brew in my fridge. I plan to "eat" it after she goes to bed.

Today, she played "making eggs" again. This time she added red jello to the mix, so there would be some "go-matoes" with eggs. Looks yummy, huh? Needless to say, we are now out of cinnamon.

Chef Marie

Ty didn't get to stay home but when he got home, he decided he wanted a turn in the kitchen. Sink time!

Needless to say, after all the cooking, Marie is feeling well enough now to go back to school tomorrow. Really a shame as I could use another day at home. I managed to get some vacuuming done, cleaned the kids rooms, washed some rugs...wonder if Ty has a fever???
