Free Free, Set Them Free

Marie was given a Butterfly Habitat for Christmas this past year by Uncle and Aunt Reading Glasses. It was a tough gift on the parent; it promised really cool stuff but not until spring. Initially it was just a mesh bag and a postcard to send away for caterpillars. Anyways, it was well well worth the wait as you can see from her delighted face. You can see a number of butterflies hanging under the lid, anticipating their release.

First, we sent the postcard away and got back two little containers full of caterpillars. Well, you can predict the rest. The caterpillars cocooned, we transferred them to the butterfly habitat and waited. Marie definitely enjoyed watching the process unfold.

Last night was the release party. We invited our neighbor over to participate. Here they are, checking for any butterflies still in the bag.

sOne fell to the ground and we were worried about his plight but he quickly figured out to get while it was good. Wise move because then Ty wanted a piece of the action too...

Very Fun! Thank you for the great gift! We will use it again next year!
